I got a little behind...

It's been a while since I've been on our blog site. Life just got busy and I never had the time to come and upload pictures. A lot has happened since the last post! Andrew turned five this past March and Geoff deployed with his unit to Kuwait for nine months. We are also expecting our second son here in less than two weeks!
I decided to try and start this up again just to make it a little easier to share photos and keep everyone updated. I'm including a recent picture of Andrew from a trip to Destin we took during block leave.

Bedtime with Daddy

Geoff was able to record himself reading some books to Andrew. Andrew just loves watching his 'Daddy movie' each night before going to bed.

Montgomery Zoo

Andrew and I went with some friends to the zoo in Montgomery. It's about an hour and a half away from Columbus in Alabama. We had a great time seeing the animals and I'm thankful that there was lots of shade there. It seemed to make the heat just a little more bearable.
One really cool thing we got to do was feed the giraffes. We bought a few leaves and then Andrew was able to give one to each giraffe. It was pretty fun!
Andrew really liked the bear

Watching the spider monkeys

Flamingos

Andrew looked at the camera and smiled! This won't happen again for another 5 years or so, so I thought it should be properly documented

I thought this was funny because it's not actually an exhibit, just some landscaping, but both boys thought it was pretty interesting

This is Andrew feeding the giraffes!

And he's off

Geoff recently deployed to Kuwait for nine months. We miss him so much already and can't wait for him to come home!

First Service

Today was the first Sunday morning church service at Kelley Hill in at least a year. Geoff has been working so hard to get this service started and it was nice to see it all finally come together. Looking forward to growing our congregation!

High School Football

A local private school invited members of 3rd Brigade to join them in honoring military members as part of their September 11th ceremonies. We had a lovely dinner prepared at the school and then we all went off to watch the football team play. Geoff gave the opening invocation before the game started and all the military members and their families were part of the half time ceremony where the school acknowledged the sacrifices our military members have made for our country.

Great Wolf Lodge, North Carolina

For the holiday weekend we went on a retreat with one of the chapels on post to the Great Wolf Lodge in Concord, NC. It was a really fun weekend and Andrew had a blast. I liked this one a little bit better than the Kansas City one too. Well, the water park was better. I liked our room in Kansas better, but since we didn't spend too much time there, it wasn't a big deal. Andrew's favorite part was the green slide which he must have done at least 1000 times. He also liked the little wave runners they had in the kids area that you could use to spray water. This one also had a wave pool too which was super fun. I apologize that some of the pictures are a little fuzzy! I didn't bring the big camera down to the water area.

Callaway Garden Balloon Fest

We headed out for the balloon glow at Callaway Gardens since it was free admission for the first night. We had a great time watching the balloons go up and it was fun to be so close to them. You could really feel the heat from the burners when they went off. I think Andrew really enjoyed watching them once it got dark. They did a lot of burns so we stayed out to watch them for a while. Other than being a little hot until the sun went down, it was a great evening!

First Day of School

Today was Andrew's first day of school. I really tried to get a good picture, but he was much too excited to be bothered with taking a picture. Anyway, I like his new teacher and I think Andrew will like the classroom too. It's a smaller class which is great for him and I like the hours a little better than what we had in KS. Looking foward to a fun school year!
